Spray Paint Sunday

Helllloooo FriendsWe have been having crazy warm temps here in Missouri, is that happening where you live too?

When the weather gets cold my spray paint projects get banished to the garage (aka my future craft room-it's a work in progress.)  When the temp was in the upper 70's on Sunday (after church)  I took advantage of the warm spring December afternoon and decided to have a spray paint palooza. :)

I spread a big plastic tarp across my back patio, gathered my supplies and grabbed every project that I have been putting off out of the garage and got to work.

My projects included three shelves for my daughter's room (all snapped up at a dollar or less) a shelf for my Mom, a big awesome fancy frame that I have a project in mind for, another frame that I was going to throw away that will become a Christmas craft, and a candle holder that I love but needed updated.

I went through almost three cans of primer....and then I painted.  My favorite part.  I spray painted all afternoon.  It was starting to get dark when I finished.  I was tired and my finger was a little sore, but yesterday I could barely grasp anything.  I used muscles in my arm I didn't even know I had!

I really love how spray paint transforms things.   I also love when things turn out like I imagined in my head.  :)

My spray paint Sunday gave me a good start on some projects I have been meaning to do.  Have you done any fun projects lately?

Bling a Ding Ding Ding

Helllooooo Friends! Oh my how time flies, did you know it is already September???  For real
If you follow me on FACEBOOK you might have heard how my laptop crashed. It was sad. I don't have it back yet (still waiting to see if it can be fixed or if a new laptop is in my future.)  In the meantime I am stealing moments on my daughter's computer and crafting up a storm!

While I was thrifting I picked up this cute little spice rack. I paid a quarter for! I ♥ thrifting!

I didn't really have anything in mind, I just knew I would find a use for it. My daughter asked me if she could have it and if I would paint it turquoise. I agreed. The next thing she asked made my heart ♥ happy! She asked if I could "bling it up." My girl is not a blingy, sparkly kind of girl. I was a little surprised, but I pulled out my big bucket of bling, thanked God that she really is my daughter :) and got to work!

(FYI-I bought this during a half off sale, I don't buy anything full price!)

First I sanded the spice rack, then gave it a good coat of primer.

Next I spray painted it turquoise.  My daughter wanted it a little more"turquoisey" so I did another coat with craft paint.

Once I had it the color she wanted I started blinging it up. I hand glued each and every bling on there. It was little tedious but I love the end result!

Bling a ding ding ding!!!!!

I don't know if you can see all of the sparkly bling very good in this picture but in person it is super cute. So are you wondering what my daughter was going to do with her blinged out spice rack?

Ta Da!!

A great place to store nail polishI need to make me one now! :)

This was just the first of several items that the "bling bucket" is going to be featured in!  I bet you can't wait for me to say bling a hundred more times! :)

Mirror, Mirror.....A Before and After

It was love at first sight-kind of- when I spotted this mirror at my favorite thrift store.  I knew as soon as I saw it that I was going to paint it, I could just see it in my head,  and let me tell you friends, it turned out even better than I imagined!!

Here is the before shot of the mirror, in all of its gold goodness....:)

Ignore the lady who didn't clean the mirror before taking the picture...

Ahhhh, much better

For some reason, I thought hand painting with acrylic paint would let me get all of the detail on the mirror better. It took me about two minutes to realize this was an epic FAIL!

Enter.......

Boo-Yah!! Just what it took to get the job done!  Did I mention that the awesome gold thrift store mirror is a real heavy plastic?  Now that it is painted you can hardly tell.

Now for the reveal.....let me tell you, I am in love, love, love!!

Ta-Da!!

Here they are side by side....

Better? It turned out exactly like I wanted/ imagined itThis was the very first piece in my bedroom redo-I need to get moving on it so I can show you the rest!

I am so excited!  I am linking this up HERE!
